My thought posted on this forum (2/7/2019) , now validated by Chinese Govt's weekend announcement: Give a hand to Shenzhen while Hong Kong got the cold-shoulder:--
I too don't think China will care deeply about HK from now on. All favourable policies to HK that can be given had been given to HK since the Handover; even to the extent of dragging the feet of other nearby provinces. All good words and gestures that can be offered had been put to the HK people by the heads of the Party since 1/7/1997. And what does HK give in return? Not a word of gratitude.
It is high time for the HK people to sort out their own problems, China has a lot on its plates itself. All these riots and unrests, though they may not look good on HK and China, serve both a valuable lesson to the 1.4 billion Mainland Chinese about the pitfalls of unbridled freedom and nascent democratic system, as well as dispelling the lies and fake news circulated by the Western media since 1997.
Let HK rot, let its economy nosedive to the south, let the harsh reality reveals the fragility of this city.
Afterall, no one and no place is irreplaceable in this day and age. With a 7 million strong university graduates and countless engineers and specialists came out of the high schools EVERY year(even Apple's Tim Cook acknowledges this fact), it is not difficult for China to reconstruct another HK, and possibly more, in the Mainland.
The Truth hurts, and that is the only way for HK people to learn, and learn they must.
As for the incorrigible, God bless them, and blessing are what they need
